Pilgrimage tour of Punjab & Delhi >>
Amritsar - Jalandhar - Chandigarh - Delhi
5 nights / 6days
- Day 01: Arrival Amritsar:
Arrive Amritsar Railway Station. On arrival meet and greet by our
representative who will take you to the hotel. Check in hotel.
Overnight stay.
- Day 02: Amritsar
Have breakfast. Start your full day city tour with the blessings
of Golden Temple-the most important Sikh shrine which is also
called Mecca for the Sikhs is a living symbol of the spiritual and
historical traditions of the Sikhs., then visit Jallianwala Bagh-
where, on April 13, 1919, British and Gurkha soldiers opened fire
on an unarmed forbidden gathering, killing hundreds of civilians.
Evening visit Indo-Pak Wagah Border to watch Flag Retreat
Ceremony- Wagah, an army outpost on Indo-Pak border 30 Kms from
Amritsar where the daily highlight is the evening "Beating the
Retreat" ceremony. Soldiers from both countries march in perfect
drill, going through the steps of bringing down their respective
national flags. As the sun goes down, nationalistic fervour rises
and lights are switched on marking the end of the day amidst
thunderous applause. Return to hotel.. Overnight stay.
- Day 03: Amritsar - Jalandhar
After breakfast proceeds for full day Gurdwara Yatra around
Amritsar starting from Gurdwara Shri Tarn Taran Sahib- is a
Gurdwara established by the fifth guru, Guru Arjan Dev. It is
situated in the city of Tarn Taran Sahib. It has the distinction
of having the largest sarovar (Water pond) of all the gurudwaras.
Also it is famous for the month gathering of pilgrims on day of
Amavas (No moon night). Then Visit Khadoor Sahib- Sri Khadur Sahib
was the family home of second Guru Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji. The Guru
settled here with his wife Mata Khivi and raised their three
children here. Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji established his religious
center here and spent the rest of his life at Khadur Sahib. Here
Shri Guru Angad Dev appointed Guru Amar Das as his successor and
the third Guru. A grand Gurudwara Khaddi Sahib has been
constructed here, in memory of Guru Amar Das. Then proceed to
Goindwal Sahib, visit Gurdwara Shri Baoli Sahib- This was the
first centre of Sikhism and was established by Sri Guru Amar Das
Ji. The Hindus went on pilgrimage to Hardwar and Benaras but the
Sikhs needed a place of their own. Understanding this, Sri Guru
Amar Das Ji purchased the land and personally helped in the
construction of the Gurdwara and Baoli (well) with 84 steps
leading down to it. Proceed to Visit Gurdwara Shri Hatt Sahib at
Sultanpur Lodhi- Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith, spent
14 years in Sultanpur Lodhi, situated in Kapurthala district of
Punjab. His brotber-in-law,Jai Ram, got him employed in the
service of Nawab Daulat Khan Lodhi who was much impressed by the
intellectual equipment of Nanak. He worked as an accountant there.
Proceed to Jalandhar, Reach Jalandhar, Check in hotel, Overnight
stay.
- Day 04: Jalandhar - Chandigarh
After breakfast start your journey for Chandigarh. On the way
stop at Gurdwara Shri Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib- Keshgarh
Sahib is situated at Anandpur. It is considered the birthplace of
the Khalsa. The Khalsa order was founded here by Guru Gobind Singh
in 1699. Some of the weapons of Guru Gobind Singh are displayed
here. The most precious of these is the actual Khanda (double
edged sword) used by Guru Gobind Singh to prepare the Amrit (sweet
water) used in the first Khalsa initiation ceremony. Proceed to
Chandigarh, Reach Chandigarh, and Overnight.
- Day 05: Delhi
After breakfast start your journey for Delhi, check in Hotel,
later afternoon proceed for Darshan of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is
situated near to Connaught Place in New Delhi. The place where the
Gurdwara now stands was once a splendid bungalow of Raja Jai Singh
Amber of Jaipur. Guru Sri Harkishan, the eighth guru of the Sikhs,
stayed in this bungalow as guest of Raja Jai Singh. Since that
time, the bungalow has assumed sanctity for both Hindus as well as
Sikhs. Delhi Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, in has a quite simple and
large main hall covered by a small golden dome with a sculpted
bronze cupola, after darshan proceed to Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib
was constructed in the year 1732 by Lakhi Banjara. He performed
the last rites of the martyred Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur. There is an
interesting legend attached to Rakaabganj Gurudwara, in New Delhi.
The legend has it that Lakhi ran away to his home with the body of
Guru ji. There, he cremated the body on a pile of sandalwood. To
remove any evidence, he even set fire to the house. Later, when
the fire extinguished, he gathered the holy ashes and put them in
an urn, which he buried on the cremation site itself. It is
believed that Delhi Gurdwara Rakab Ganj was built, there itself,
as a commemoration of the event. Also visit Gurdwara Sis Ganj
Sahib was built to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur.
It is situated in Chandni Chowk, on the same site where Mughal
Emperor Aurangzeb ordered the beheading of Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur
in the year 1675. It is said that when Guru Tegh Bahadur died, no
one had the courage to pick up his body. Suddenly, it started
raining heavily. Then, two of the brave followers of Guruji took
his head and body and fled.Later visit Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tila is
situated opposite Timarpur Colony beyond Khyber Pass in Delhi. The
Gurdwara is dedicated to Guru Nanak who sanctified this place in
the 15th century. Delhi Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tilla has quite an
interesting story behind its foundation. It is believed that a
fakir (Muslim hermit) used to live on the banks of river Yamuna
during the rule of Sultan Sikander Lodi. Carrying people across
the river in his boat for free, prayer and meditation were the
sole aims in his life.later evening proceed to Gurdwara Nanak Piao
is situated on Rana Pratap Road in the Shakti Nagar area of New
Delhi. The gurdwara was built to commemorate Sri Nanak Dev, the
first Sikh Guru. The site where the Delhi Gurdwara Nanak Piao
stands was once a garden where the Guru camped during his visit to
Delhi in 1505. The people, who came to visit the Guru during his
visit, used to present him and his bard Mardana with numerous
gifts, which he distributed among the deprived and poor, return
back dinner & overnight stay
- Day 06: Transfer - Departure
Transfer to Railway station / Airport to board train / flight
for onward journey.
